It's a Duck's Life

Memorial Day Weekend brought a day trip up to Jackson, NH to experience some nature and enjoy the Duck Races.

We were so surprised to be able to hop into the river to wait for the ducks.

Theo is in a major Daddy phase. Loves all things Daddy.

Here come the ducks!

What a treat to be able to help the ducks along!

Yow! That's a New England tan you're seeing on Gabriel's back.

Monday brought another family first - a hike with me hiking the whole time and not carrying anyone! Gabriel ran, hopped, and skipped up the mountain (and down again). Nathan and I realized we'd best stay in shape to keep up with the kiddos.

Ice Time Overtime

My big mistake, signing up for session 3 of skating and hockey for Maddie and Theo. It was such a trial to go to each week.  It's quite challenging to suit up for time on the ice when it's beautiful outside. Theo was in misery. I needed to give him a pep talk prior to the lesson. He'd get out there and work so hard skating forward and backward.  Maddie stoically hopped on the ice and worked her tail off during the lesson. Skating backwards with ease, doing drills, shooting pucks - she'd come of the ice cool as a cucumber while the other kids rolled off with beet red faces. But, we made it to the end and Theo was secretly glad to be in day 5 of a fever so he could skip his lesson (he wasn't feverish when I dragged him to practice, we just had to get out of the house). A vending machine treat of WHATEVER candy you want eased the pain of watching the lesson.

Waban Village Days

A glorious warm day for Waban Village Days. We had full family participation in the fun run - Theo and Nathan on bike, Maddie and I running and Gabriel on bike with training wheels. I pushed the double stroller thinking I'd need to toss in Gabriel and his bike at some point but he did the full three miles! And let me tell you, I have found my new workout partner! What a motivator - running as fast as I can to catch up with him. I was thankful when that training wheel would rattle and I'd need to bend over to tighten it.

The pirate ship was another favorite ride (Maddie and Theo at the top of each picture). Little did we know, Theo would return home with a 103.8! fever.

Soccer Girls in the Tree

I love this season of soccer. It's the season that 3rd graders branch into travel soccer (2 - 3 practices a week and games outside of Newton) and intramural, which Maddie is doing. Maddie is really enjoying it. She's with a few of her friends from school, the coach is lovely and she is playing hard. She even like to play goalie! It's a great season. (She's at the top of the tree.)

Sushi Girl

We had a fun Friday night. Nathan and Theo biked to Apgujung. We met them for a yummy dinner. Maddie loves sushi! She's so cute and excited about it. I think she looks very grown up here.

A Proud Day

Mother's Day at church and Maddie received her bible. She has been waiting for this all year. She was so proud and excited about it. The challenge now is that the youth minister has selected a verse specifically for her and we cannot find it! It's like the ultimate treasure hunt.

Theo was in charge of greeting attendees. He was so proper and proud. I need to find him some suspenders and a bow tie as he's requested. Can you picture it?

Nathan is noted for his planned special days. I had enjoyed breakfast in bed, church and then a lovely lunch at a dim sum restaurant. It was packed with Chinese so we knew it would be delicious and it was! Maddie is showing me the three peas in a pod, for my munchkins.

We had family naps (hooray), croquet outside, a yummy dinner and a flower ceremony. It was a blessed day.

New Posts!

Hi - I'm trying to back blog. Have done about six short ones in March. I hope to be all caught up by June. But you know how that goes. There's no sense in having an online scrapbook if I can't keep it together. Hope you enjoy!
Love, Erin
