Christmas Winds to a Close

So the week came to a close. Such a wonderful visit - if only we were closer to all or any family. We must treasure the times that we have.
More stories and games with Uncle J.
While the menfolk went to watch the Patriots, the rest of the crew went to this really neat Christmas exhibit. It was a Boston tradition for years (many old fashion scenes, a snow fall when they play White Christmas, warm blueberry muffins, etc.). A local furniture store bought it at auction and have now opened it up to the public. Though we weren't about to wait in a two hour pre-Christmas line, 10 minutes with the kiddos was just right!

Merry Christmas!

The stockings were filled, the tree lit and the celebration began!

I had wanted a lovely Christmas jammie picture. We staged this one a few weeks before Christmas to no avail.
At least we captured two happy kids on Christmas morning!
Here they come!
One
Two
Three!
A sleigh from Santa for all, a hoop for Gaby

A camera and another special kitty were on the list and Santa delivered!
Matching beanbags from Grammie and Pop Pop. I thought these would be in the basement but each child decided to put them in their rooms for snuggling up and reading stories.

And I bought into the hype of the zhu zhu pets. So very unlike me but my friend Denise and I spent, oh about five weeks, putting together our set - from late night Internet orders to 5:45 AM at Toys R Us. And then a two hour intense session of putting it all together. Can you say loco? That said the kids do enjoy them but I can't believe I spent the time and money on fake hamsters!
Howdy pardner. Cowboy boot slippers from Arizona.
My Christmas jam elf
I must say, it was our best Christmas jam yet. Though no wild and crazy dancing like last year when Maddie performed a very wild interpretive dance. You'll have to see the video!
Yes, Jonathan with a maraca, golf glove and filming himself. You look good J, really good.
Hooray! What a special Christmas.

Christmas Eve

We had a lovely Christmas Eve. Our church had their children's pageant in the afternoon. Maddie was an angel and the boys chose to be donkeys. It was organized chaos with a lot of love.

We headed home and made sure to leave reindeer food on the front lawn. Those reindeer get hungry!

And last but not least the feast! Nathan outdid himself with: Chateaubriand with red wine mushroom sauce, lobster tails, yam ravioli, swiss chard, and a pine nut torte. We also had some amazing wines. It was decadent. Everyone went to bed with visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads.

Snowflake

Introducing... Snowflake and her baby!
I

We were lucky enough to get a snowstorm a few days ago with perfect snowman building snow!

Christmas Elves

Two of my elves. So sad I didn't snap one of Theo.

Maddie, 22 months
Gabriel, 17 1/2 months

Casa Portugal

Casa Portugal has become one of our favorite restaurants. Nathan feels very happy whenever we eat there.

Uncle Johnny and the dancing squid.

Up Up in the Air

Dad's Christmas present was a flight above Boston in a small plane piloted by a dad from Angier. Nathan and Dad took to the sky and had an amazing flight at dusk.
It was definitely a puddle jumper!

They loved flying over Boston and watching the city get ready for night. My Dad even got to pilot the plane for a bit.

Stories with Pop Pop and Uncle Johnny

They finally arrived! We were so excited. It was a much awaited and anticipated event!

Theo and Maddie loved their new book, The Quiltmaker's Gift. Grammie and Pop Pop always spoil the kids rotten (as Maddie says).

And let's not forget Uncle Johnny, he was like a rock star in the house. Where's Uncle Johnny? Where are you going Uncle Johnny? What are you doing? Do you want to play? And on and on! (Can you see Theo's expression in the picture?) And I know it's annoying to read about Christmas in February - I'll soon be caught up!

A Christmas Surprise from Grandmary

Our yard screamed for a swing set. The closest playground is at Angier, which makes it more of an outing than a daily event. And so I decided to use some of the money Grandmary had left me for a Christmas surprise for the kids. I've tried to honor each grandmother by using funds in ways they'd appreciate. I've had paintings commissioned for the kids to commemorate Grandmary's love of art and this will honor her love of fun. I've invested the money from Grandmommy!

Maddie was super excited to see her new toy!
It was frigid but we bundled up and headed outside. Gabriel took right to the set and scampered up the ladder. It's been great fun even in the winter. On a side note, I'm having difficulty with my camera. I'm quite disappointed in the pictures though Nathan would say it's the photographer and not the camera. We'll see...

Bowen Sing A Long

Bowen ends the year with a classroom party and school wide sing a long. As soon as Theo brought home the invitation, he kept asking if Daddy would be at the party, over and over again. I tried to explain that Daddy has to work and can't leave in the middle of the day. He finally sighed and said, "Okaaay." Well, guess who surprised Theo?

As Daddy walks into the classroom

The boys or brothers as Theo calls them. He'll correct me when I tell someone I have two boys. "No Mama, there are three of us." Yes, there are little buddy, yes, there are.
Tender moments

Theo was crying and Gabriel climbed up the stairs, went into Theo's room and brought him dog dog.

We see a runner on our walk to Angier. Theo says, "He must be trying to catch a ride somewhere."

After the kids received letters from Santa, Maddie read hers aloud to Nathan. Theo wanted the same experience and had me read each sentence and then he'd repeat the words like he was reading the letter (this was his idea).

Cookies with Santa

Our church had a fun children's event - Cookies with Santa. We got decked out in the red and green and hustled off to meet Santa. Interesting, where are the boys? They wouldn't go near the man with the white beard.
Until I said I'd join in the picture. This one won't be winning any awards!
Much sugar eating commenced our morning. What a great season!

Trader Joe's Bag Boy

Theo likes nothing more than to help unload groceries. This was the first time that he decided to accessorize with the bags!

The Climber

This boy is into everything. He pushes a chair around the kitchen to get where he wants to be, right in the mix of whatever is going on. Rearrange the spices, sure no problem; climb up on the counter to grab a banana, easy peasy (as Theo says). He is a full blown toddler with all the ups and downs!
